A Comic Book Approach to First-Time Voter Education
While working at Santa Clara County, Registrar of Voters, I was assigned to work on a product that would help young voters learn more about the process of voting.
On November 5, 2024, hundreds of students lined up at San Jose State University and Stanford to register and vote. The surge in student voters prompted long lines and ROV staff work overtime to process all students who arrived before the polls closed. It was a clear sign: young people are ready to vote, we need to meet them where they are. This comic book was designed to be an engaging way to deliver useful information about the process of registering to vote.

A Comic Book Approach to First-Time Voter Education
This comic book has received recognition and won a Beacon Award from the Election Center for creating the Voting Guide for College Students Comic Book to help educate young voters about the process registering to vote.
Outcome
We have printed over 1500+ comic books to be distributed to universities, community colleges, public libraries to educate young voters.
The comic book has been recognized by other counties around the US and was distributed the guide at the CACEO (California Association of Code Enforcement Officers) conference.
Advertising was made to promote the comic around the Santa Clara County Area.
The team is always looking for new way to distribute this comic book to get the word out about voting such as creating displays at local libraries to cater to young voters.
